Clean sweep on the cards for the host

The national badminton team are on course of making its first clean sweep of all five titles in 20 years in the Celcom Axiata Malaysian International Challenge.

One title is already in the bag for the host when Song Fie Cho-Tee Jing Yi and Lim Chiew Sien-Tan Sueh Jeou made it an all-Malaysian affair in the women's doubles.

Malaysia will also be represented in the other four finals by Tan Jia Wei in the men's singles, Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik (men's doubles), Lee Ying Ying (women's singles) and Chen Tang Jie-Peck Yen Wei (mixed doubles).

In the other semi-final clash, Ahsan-Hendra, who only reunited two months ago, made short work of second seeds Low Juan Shen-Chooi Kah Ming, clinching the tie 21-15, 21-13 in just 25 minutes.

Aaron-Wooik Yik will be hoping for third time lucky having settled for runners-up in their last two final outings including the Vietnam International last month.

Ying Ying, who last won the Romanian International Series in 2016, overcame top seed Hanna Ramadini of Indonesia 21-7, 10-21, 21-17 to set up a title clash with China's Wang Zhiyi.
