Chong Wei Feng the last man standing in China Masters

Independent shuttler Chong Wei Feng is Malaysia’s only hope in the Lingshui China Masters.

The 30-year-old world No.48 beat homester Zhou Zeqi 21-18, 21-11 to check into the semi-finals today but it was the end of the road for Liew Daren and Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin.

Second seed Daren was beaten 21-18, 21-5 by Lu Guangzu while Iskandar, the seventh seed, went down 21-14, 17-21, 21-14 to Taiwan’s Lin Yu-hsien in the quarter-finals.

Wei Feng meets Yu-hsien, the world No.53 in the last four and bid to reach his first final since finishing runner-up at the Vietnam Open in July 2016.

The Lingshui China Masters is a Super 100-rated tournament — the sixth and lowest tier — in the newly formed BWF World Tour structure.
