Arsenal's Mohamed Elneny suffers ankle ligament damage

(Ah Fat Talk Ball) - Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny faces a spell out with an ankle ligament injury but the Premier League club are hopeful he can return to action before the end of the season.

Egypt international Elneny was carried off the pitch before halftime in Sunday's 4-1 home victory over West Ham United following a collision with midfielder Mark Noble.

Elneny, 25, is hoping to be fit to play for his country in the World Cup in Russia starting in June.

Arsenal take on Spain's Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday.

Arsene Wenger's side are sixth in the Premier League with 57 points from 34 games.
