Malaysia back on track after defeating Myanmar 5-0

Malaysia are back on track after handing a 5-0 beating to Myanmar in the men's event of the 2018 Badminton Asia Team Championships.

With world No. 2 Lee Chong Wei rested, national No. 2 Lee Zii Jia took on the first singles role.

The 19-year-old needed just 20 minutes to dispatch Phone Pyae Naing 21-3, 21-10 at the Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium here.

Soong Joo Ven then doubled the lead by beating Aung Myo Htoo 21-9, 21-7 before Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin settled the contest by whipping Chan Win Oo 21-10, 21-10.

World No. 23 Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi, who took the first doubles role in place of the rested Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong, made it 4-0 by beating Arkar Phone Myat-Hein Si Thu Toe 21-5, 21-5.

World No. 53 Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani completed the win by beating Aung Myo Htoo-Chan Win Oo 21-12, 21-9.

Malaysia, who suffered a 3-2 defeat to Thailand on Tuesday, now need a big win against Taiwan to seal one of the two available spots for the quarter-finals from Group C.
