The national Under-23 team created history after making it to the quarter-final of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-23 Championship after stunning 10-men Saudi Arabia 1-0 in their final Group C match.
Midfielder Danial Amier Norhisham was the hero for Malaysia by scoring in the 28th minute at the Kushan Stadium on Tuesday (Jan 16).
Saudi were reduced to 10-men after Hamdan Al Shamrani was shown the red card deep into added time.
Debutants Malaysia finished second in the group with four points to accompany group winners Iraq who topped the standings with seven points.
