Goh-Tan reach Malaysian Masters doubles final

KUALA LUMPUR: Men's doubles pair Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong kept the home interest alive by reaching the final of the Perodua Malaysian Masters.
The world No. 24 ranked pair were in their element as they crushed world No. 9 Chen Hung-ling-Wang Chi-lin of Taiwan 21-16, 21-17 in the semi-finals at the Axiata Arena on Saturday.
It certainly showed V Shem-Wee Kiong are regaining the form that won them the Rio Olympics silver medal following a brief stint apart.
They next face Indonesia's Fajar Alfian-Muhd Rian Ardianto for the title.
There was however no joy for men's singles shuttler Liew Daren and mixed pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie.
World No. 62 Daren, who came through the qualifiers, finally met his match after losing 15-21, 11-21 to world No. 1 Viktor Axelsen of Denmark.
Soon Huat-Shevon on the other hand blew a one game lead to lose 21-14, 12-21, 13-21 to second seeds Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong.
