FAM: Tan Cheng Hoe to take over as Harimau Malaya head coach

PETALING JAYA: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has appointed Tan Cheng Hoe (pic) to take over as national football head coach after Portuguese Eduardo Vingada stepped down on Wednesday following a string of poor results.
Cheng Hoe is a former Kedah coach and was appointed as an assistant to Vingada this year.
"We would like to congratulate Tan Cheng Hoe on being appointed as the new Harimau Malaya head coach," said FAM general secretary Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin in a message posted on the FAM website Thursday (Dec 7).
The 64-year-old Vingada announced his decision to quit after just over five months in charge of Harimau Malaya, that saw him fail to win a single match out of seven he was in charge of since his appointment in June.
Cheng Hoe's task next year is to complete the 2019 Asian Cup qualifiers campaign against Lebanon in March and also the AFF Suzuki Cup.
