Two kids injured, teenager feared drown in boat mishap

KOTA KINABALU: Two children were injured while a teenager is feared drowned after a boat mishap in waters off Tambisan on Wednesday night (Nov 8).

A villager Zamazi Zakaria, 31, was travelling from Tambisan Island and was heading towards Tambisan Darat when he was hit by another boat.

The other boat was manned by Abu Sabri Jalani, 18, Asraf Jalani, 16, and 11-year-old Mohamad Yazer.

Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency deputy director of operations Sandakan, Commander Mohd Khairulanuar Abdul Majid said Zamazi escaped injuries but Mohamad Yazer and Asraf were hurt.

Abu Sabri fell into the sea and went missing.

"Zamazi took the injured boys to the hospital before alerting the authorities about the missing teenager," he said in a statement Thursday.

Mohd Khairulanuar said a search and rescue team was despatched at about 10.55pm to search for the missing teen but to no avail.

"Search operations are ongoing," he said.
