Liow: MCA confident of winning Chinese support

KUALA LUMPUR: The MCA is confident of winning the Chinese support in the coming general election, says party president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
"We work hard to benefit the community and to regain their trust.
"Let the results speak for our ability and sincerity to serve.
"Defeat is only temporary," he said, referring to the party's poor outing in the 2008 and 2013 elections.
Liow stressed that MCA as a righteous party would  never resort to manipulation to get votes
He said MCA had undergone a successful transformation in the last three years and is ready to face the impending general election and regain the Chinese support for Barisan Nasional.
"We succeeded in contacting 550,000 of our members. Many of them are touched by our gesture and are also receptive to what we are doing for the community ," he said at the start of the party's two-day annual general meeting here on Saturday evening.
The 68-year-old MCA has over 1.09mil members and is the second largest Barisan Nasional component party.
Liow said the country is at an all-time high in development now, citing the Government's National Transformation Plan which has put in place many mammoth projects, from the Northern Economic Corridor, Kayu Hitam Special Economic Zone, Proton City in Tanjung Malim to Greater Kuala Lumpur, Digital Free Trade Zone, Negri Sembilan Vision Valley, Melaka Gateway, Iskandar City, to MRT, LRT, Double Rail Track, East Coast Rail Link,  High Speed Rail and Pan Borneo Highway (in East Malaysia).
"All these projects are evidence that our country's economy is very much on the right track," he said.
Apart from this, Liow said the government's National Transformation Plan has entered a new phase - planning for the next 30 years, from 2020 to 2050.
Called Transformasi Nasional 2050 or TN50, he said the ongoing dialogue with the people especially the youth, would be valuable input used to charter the direction of the country.
"All Malaysians, including the Chinese,  must work together with the government to ensure the national vision becomes a reality," he said.
Liow said the Chinese community would not hesitate to take part in this visionary project.
