JDT to contribute part of RM1mil Malaysia Cup win to Penang flood victims

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) football club will give part of its RM1mil reward given by the state government for winning the Malaysia Cup to the flood victims in Penang.

Club owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim,who is also the Tunku Mahkota Johor, said the matter was agreed upon between him and the players.

"Johor government will also be giving donation to the flood victims there and the club would donate how much we can, which is between RM500,000 and RM600,000, to Penang.

"JDT is more than a football club and we are sincere in helping those in need like when we helped flood victims in Pahang and Kelantan and Sabah earthquake victims," he added.

Tunku Ismail, who is also the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president, said this to pressmen after signing a document with World League Forum (WLF) that sees the M-League becoming the first Asean member on Thursday.

On Wednesday (Nov 8), the state government announced a reward of RM1mil for JDT for winning the Malaysia Cup on last Saturday (Nov 4).

The matter was decided during the state exco meeting, which was chaired by Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
