Body of drowned fisherman found

KOTA KINABALU: The body of a man believed to have drowned while trying to retrieve his speedboat has been found, two days going missing.
State Fire and Rescue Department division operations chief Khatizah Rahaban said the body of Awang Tahir Daud, 49, was discovered by villagers.
It is learnt that On Oct 31, Awang and his two friends Mohd Asmizan Ramli, 17, and Bahar Bachtir, 27, had gone out to sea in the evening to repair some fishing nets near Kg Tanjung Aru Menumbok, about 150km from here.
It is believed that at some point, Awang jumped into the sea to retrieve a speedboat that started drifting away after its mooring line came loose.
Awang's body has since been sent to the Kuala Penyu Hospital for a post-mortem.
