Three more arrested in Sabah rural projects graft probe

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested three more people in its probe into the alleged misappropriation of government funds meant for rural projects in Sabah.
Warisan Youth chief Datuk Aziz Jamman, 43, was arrested at 5pm Monday at the Sabah MACC headquarters in Kota Kinabalu after he was questioned by three investigators.
The other two arrested were Tenom Umno Youth chief Jamawi Jaafar, 43 and Tawau Umno Youth chief Ariffin Kassim, 44.
They were detained at the Sabah MACC headquarters and Tawau office respectively.
In an event here earlier, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad said the MACC is investigating how RM1.5bil was siphoned from a total of RM7.5bil worth of funds allocated for rural projects in Sabah over the past six years.
On Thursday, Parti Warisan Sabah vice-president Datuk Peter Anthony and a businessman were arrested after giving their statements.
A 40-year-old former deputy undersecretary (infrastructure) from the Rural and Regional Development Ministry was also nabbed in Putrajaya over the case.
