Stalls should not obstruct roads in case of emergencies

PETALING JAYA: A fire at a switch box in Masjid India was quickly put out by the building's maintenance staff.
But what drew the concern of the public was when a fire truck was seen stuck in busy Jalan Masjid India while trying to get to the building.
City Fire and Rescue Department chief operations officer Samsol Maarif Saibani said the Titiwangsa station responded to the emergency, but the firemen did not have to take action as the situation was safe and under control.
“A switch box had caught fire, and it was put out by the building maintenance staff,” he said.
He expressed concern about the layout of the stalls that obstruct the road, adding that this makes it difficult for a fire truck in an emergency.
“The Masjid India Business Association has been highlighting the danger Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is putting all of us in, but all this is falling on deaf years,” he said.
