Penang govt seeks feedback on Penang Arts District

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang government will engage with the country's art community for input towards the planning of the state's RM30mil Penang Arts District (PAD).
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said PAD will house the single largest collection of art galleries, cultural museums, exhibition spaces, art and music studios, as well as workshops.
He said that the masterplan for PAD, located off Gat Lebuh Macallum and Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu, was submitted to the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) for planning permission approval last month.
"There will be dialogues and focus group discussions with various stakeholders from the local arts community.
Lim said the feedback will be included into the building plans before submission to MBPP in December this year.
He added that a dialogue session for the building plans will be conducted by the PAD team led by its director Tony Pua, who is the Petaling Jaya Utara MP, and the project's lead designer Penang-based BYG Architecture Sdn Bhd.
The dialogue sessions will be held on Oct 25 at 3pm, Oct 26 (10.30am) and Nov 10 (2pm).
The sessions will be held at the Penang House of Music, Level 4, Komtar.
A dialogue session will also be held in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 2 at the Next Academy, AG-7, Glomac Damansara, at 2.30pm.
