Motorists advised to be careful following landslide on Gerik-Jeli Highway

IPOH: Motorists are advised to exercise extra caution when travelling along the Gerik-Jeli Highway due to a minor landslide in the area.
The Tuesday night incident at KM140 marks the second time a landslide has occurred at the same spot.
The first incident occurred on Sept 23.
Gerik OCPD Supt Ismail Che Isa said that currently only one lane is open to allow motorists to pass.
"The Public Works Department and a road construction company are in the process of clearing away the debris," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Supt Ismail said another landslide is anticipated due to the rainy weather, adding that the landslide was due to rain affecting sedimentary rocks.
"We have set up road signs and cones at the site.
"We hope that motorists will be more careful and slow down when travelling along the highway," he said.
