Johor Prince: Just adopted a kitten, no need for pet stores

PETALING JAYA: While many Malaysians prefer to purchase pets from a store, Johor Prince Tunku Idris Sultan Ibrahim feels that adopting a stray is the way to go.
In an Instagram posting, Tunku Idris revealed that he had adopted a stray cat instead of visiting a pet store.
“Just adopted (rescued) this stray kitten. No need for pet stores,” he said in the post.
His choice of adopting the stray kitten was well received by netizens, with many praising him for being kind and humble.
“Thank you Tuanku for choosing to adopt. Hopefully more kind-hearted souls like you will rise and stand up for the strays,” Instagram user ri.sa commented.
Others commented on how lucky the cat is.
This isn’t the first time Tunku Idris had made a strong stance on animal rights.
Last November, Tunku Idris slammed the state’s Pasir Gudang Council after pamphlets of its controversial stray dog control campaign went viral on social media.
The council had offered the public a reward of RM55 for every dog caught and brought back to the council alive.
“We have SPCA for a reason! You don’t just go around and put down dogs! This is what happens when you invite them to the SPCA event and they don’t understand Tuanku Permaisuri’s speech which was in English. Very disrespectful,” He wrote on his Instagram account at the time.
