Birds' nest traders charged with 13 counts of human trafficking

BINTULU: Three birds' nest traders in Bintulu have been charged with 13 counts of human trafficking after they allegedly forced a group of Indonesians to work for them – without any pay.
Lu Sing Cho, her husband Wong See Hua and worker Tommy Wong were produced before Sessions Court Judge Norhamizah Shaiffudin here on Tuesday.
Muhammad Nor Solihin Salleh prosecuted while the trio were represented by Hii Chee Wong.
All three pleaded not guilty to all charges and were released on RM20,000 bail with one surety.
On Oct 3, Bintulu police raided a house here and rescued 13 Indonesians aged between 18 to 44, allegedly victims of the forced-labour human trafficking syndicate.
The team found the 13 men and women confined in a small room and arrested the couple and the worker in the house.
