27 escape fire at religious school in Kapar

KLANG: Twenty-five students and two religious teachers at a tahfiz in Kapar near here had a narrow escape when the roof of their residential school caught fire Monday afternoon.
They were all downstairs at a classroom when the fire broke out in one of the four bedrooms of the Nurul Al-Quran tahfiz at about 2.30pm.
Three fire engines, one each from the Sungai Pinang, Kota Raja and Kapar fire stations, rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 2.45pm.
The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes.
Also at the scene was Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar's political secretary Datuk Faisal Abdullah.
According to Faisal, the tahfiz was not registered with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department.
"They have submitted their application for registration which was still pending," he said.
