Wisma Putra: No Malaysians affected by Mexico earthquake

PETALING JAYA: Nineteen Malaysians living in Mexico are safe from the massive earthquake that struck central Mexico on Tuesday, according to the Foreign Ministry.
"The Embassy of Malaysia in Mexico City informed that four Malaysians residing in Mexico City are safe," it said in a statement on Wednesday.
"Fifteen other Malaysians residing in other parts of Mexico are not near the affected areas," it said.
The states of Morelos and Puebla in Mexico were hit by 7.1-magnitude and 6.8-magnitude earthquakes respectively on Tuesday.
The tremors could be felt across the centre of Mexico, namely Mexico City, Puebla City, Cuajimalpa, Telixtac, Chautla and 90 other small towns.
According to Mexico's civil protection agency, at least 226 people were killed in the powerful earthquake.
The Foreign Ministry, through the Embassy of Malaysia in Mexico City, said that they would continue to monitor the situation.
