Vell Paari: Najib is Father of Indian Development

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is the 'Father of Indian Development' as he is the biggest contributor to the ethnic minority, said MIC treasurer-general Datuk Seri S. Vell Paari.
Vell Paari said that it was not wrong for Najib to make the assertion, as voters from Sabah, Sarawak and the Indian community kept voting for Barisan Nasional to protect their interests.
He said that as of now, over RM900 million worth of assistance has been provided to Tamil schools.
"The MyDaftar program has been set up to resolve documentation issues affecting the Indian community and increasing Indian intake into public higher learning institutes," he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Vell Paari also said that Najib also allocated RM100mil to Indian places of worship, RM1.3bil for micro financing schemes and implemented the Malaysian Indian Blueprint (MIB) to resolve the majority of issues affecting the Indian community within the next 10 years.
He questioned the Opposition, asking if it had produced any development plans for the community.
Vell Paari issued the statement in response to a statement from Penang deputy chief minister Dr P. Ramasamy, who had said that Najib's statement had "created serious doubts" about his true intentions among the non-Malays.
He claimed that while Najib may have contributed a lot more than previous prime ministers, but he questioned whether the money has filtered down for the benefit of the community.
