Stolen motorcycle frames recovered from river

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recovered the frames of 24 stolen motorcycles that were dumped into a river.
The recovery was made following the arrest of seven suspects believed to be part of a motorcycle theft gang.
Sentul Deputy OCPD Supt Mohamed Rafiq Mohamed Mustafa said that police first arrested two suspects in the Batu Caves area at about 12.30am on Sept 13.
He said that following the arrests, police nabbed another five individuals who are the main suspects in several motorcycle theft cases.
Supt Mohamed Rafiq said that from the questioning of the suspects, police were led to Sungai Kertas in Batu Caves, where the frames of the stolen motorcycles were found.
He added that with the assistance of the Fire and Rescue Department Scuba Unit, police managed to find 24 motorcycle frames and two engine covers that had been dumped into the river.
Supt Mohamed Rafiq said the suspects, aged between 17 and 20, did not have steady jobs and are believed to have been looking for easy money by stealing the motorcycles.
He said that the components of the motorcycles were dismantled and sold to buyers who wanted cheap parts.
