Second suspect arrested over policeman's murder

PETALING JAYA: A second suspect has been arrested over the murder of a policeman at the Pinggiran Subang Jaya police station here.
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said a 35-year-old employee of a courier company from Kelantan was arrested at around 11.15pm on Tuesday.
"The suspect was arrested to help us with our investigations. We have remanded him for a week," he said.
SAC Fadzil added that police would decide later if the remand of the first suspect arrested in connection with the murder would be extended.
It was reported that L/Kpl Valentino Mesa was found dead in the police station at 3.25am on Thursday with slash wounds and a gunshot wound on his head last Thursday.
A 30-year-old factory worker from Sibu was arrested and remanded the following day in connection with the murder.
Police are scrutinising CCTV footage in the area to find more clues.
L/Kpl Mesa's remains had been flown back to his hometown in Sarikei for burial.
The gunshot was fired at close range and his Walther P99 service pistol was missing from the scene.
Police have refused to divulge the possible motive of the murder so that the investigation would not be jeopardised.
Anyone with information on the case can contact the police hotline at 03-2052 9999 or visit the nearest police station.
