Quick response from firemen enables UPSR pupils reach school safely

BETONG: Two pupils of SK Abang Abdul Kadir will now be able to sit for their UPSR exam on Monday, thanks to firemen who responded swiftly to their call for help.
The boys are residents of Rumah Aman Jugau, a longhouse, located 7km from the school.
On Sunday, they woke up to find the 700m road which led to their school was inundated with floodwaters.
A statement from the state Bomba operation centre said that a distress call was received from the families of the boys at 9.24am seeking their help to send the duo to school.
Four firemen were despatched to the longhouse located about 6km from the fire station.
With a boat, the two boys arrived safely at the school at 11.27am. They will be spending a day at the school ahead of the UPSR exam.
The UPSR will be held from Sept 11 to 14, and on Sept 18 involving a total of 443,794 candidates who will sit for it at 8,085 exam centres nationwide.
