Police studying CCTV recordings in probe into cop's murder

SHAH ALAM: Police have obtained CCTV recordings from the area surrounding Pinggiran Subang Jaya police station to assist in investigations into the murder of a policeman.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Mazlan Mansor said police would study the footage to find more clues into the murder of L/Kpl Valentino Mesa, who was found dead at the station on Thursday.
"We managed to obtain a few recordings and we hope to identify some useful clues from the videos.
"Nothing concrete has been established so far," he told the press after attending the Selangor state police contingent headquarters' Hari Raya Haji Korban Gotong Royong programme here on Saturday.
Mesa, 29, was found dead in the police station at 3.25am on Thursday with slash wounds and a gunshot wound to his head.
The gunshot is believed to have been fired at close range and his Walther P99 service
pistol was missing from the scene.
A 30-year-old man — a factory worker from Sibu, Sarawak — has since been arrested and remanded in connection with the murder.
Comm Mazlan declined to disclose more information and urged the public to refrain from circulating unverified information.
He also dismissed rumours that Mesa's pistol has been found.
