I'm vindicated, says Azmin over PKR-PAS talks

PETALING JAYA: PKR's Datuk Seri Azmin Ali (pic) says he has been vindicated over holding informal talks about PKR-PAS cooperation in the 14th general election.
"I am vindicated. Truth prevails over falsehood," said Azmin on his Facebook page on Saturday, following PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's admission that he had endorsed the talks.
"Seeking a solution requires earnest effort — not grandstanding," said Azmin.
Azmin had been criticised over meeting with PAS to discuss an alliance in the next general election.
Criticism escalated when Pakatan Harapan's presidential council announced on Tuesday its decision to not cooperate with PAS in the general election.
The PKR deputy president had said that the meeting with PAS was initiated based on a party decision.
On Saturday, Anwar admitted endorsing the PKR-PAS talks.
Anwar, in a statement, also announced his support for holding a special congress to discuss the continuation of talks with PAS.
He explained that the decision to cooperate with PAS was to consolidate all forces to defeat Umno-Barisan Nasional in the general election.
Anwar said that Azmin had been asked to oversee the initiative to cooperate with PAS and that it was recommended as a national strategy and not just limited to Selangor.
On Thursday, Azmin said that PKR respected the Pakatan presidential council decision to cease cooperation with PAS.
He said he would move on with the "necessary implementation" for the general election.
