Floods in Perlis worsen

ALOR SETAR: The flood situation in Perlis has worsened, with around 1000 people evacuated to flood relief centres in the state on Friday morning.
The 916 victims from 255 families were transferred to 13 flood relief centres in Padang Besar, Kangar and Arau.
On Thursday, a total of 829 people from 232 families were  evacuated to 10 flood relief centres in the state.
State Civil Defence Force Director Lt Kol Ishak Mohd Radzi said the water levels at rivers in the state were continuing to rise.
"Sungai Jarum and Sungai Repoh are at 'danger' level with water levels of 34.07m and 5.22m respectively," he said.
Meanwhile, Sungai Chuchoh was at "warning" level with a reading of 37.86m, while Sungai Kampung Bakau and Sungai Pelarit were both at the "alert" level.
"The water level at Timah Tasoh Dam is at 29.85m, which is above the danger level," said Lt Kol Ishak.
In Kedah, a total of 461 people from 97 families have been evacuated to relief centres in Kuala Muda, Kota Setar and Kubang Pasu.
