Driver dies in NKVE collision between two lorries

PETALING JAYA: A lorry driver died after an early morning collision with another lorry along the North Klang Valley Expressway.
Muhamad Haiqal Hamidan, aged 23, died at the scene after his lorry crashed into the back of a second lorry on the highway, at KM20.9 heading north.
The surviving lorry driver was uninjured during the accident.
However, the impact of the crash left the body stuck within the driving compartment of the lorry/
The damage was so severe, that the  Fire and Rescue Department required about two hours to retrieve the body from the crushed compartment.
District OCPD  Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said that preliminary investigations has led the police to believe that the deceased was speeding at the time and had lost focus moments before the crash.
He added that the surviving driver was driving slowly on the third lane of the highway.
Road conditions were good at the time, said ACP Mohd Zani.
The body has been sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for a post mortem.
ACP Mohd Zani said that the case was currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless driving.
