Dr M: DAP not eyeing PM post

JOHOR BARU: DAP will not take the prime minister's post if the Opposition wins in the upcoming 14th general election, said Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Even DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang was well aware that it would not be possible for the party to assume the premier's role, Dr Mahathir said at the launch of Johor Pakatan here Friday.
"Don't be scared, we won't forget that in a democracy system, the majority has the biggest say at the end of the day.
"Three of the Opposition parties are led by Malays and only DAP has Chinese leadership," he said.
Dr Mahathir said talks of Lim becoming the prime minister should the Opposition come into power after GE14 and the Malay community losing their rights were absurd and a tactic to scare Malay voters.
He lamented why the Government had yet to approve Pakatan's application to register under the Registrar of Societies (RoS).
"It has been more than a month and the RoS has not replied why Pakatan's registration process is still incomplete.
"Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is the Home Minister and responsible for the approval, is keeping mum on the matter due to fear of Pakatan.
"Looks like their tactic would be to register Pakatan at the very last minute before GE14, so that we have minimal time to campaign and introduce our logo for the election," said the former premier.
Dr Mahathir also claimed that PAS has a hidden agenda to help Barisan Nasional win in places where the party planned to put up three-corner fights.
"They are trying to create a diversion to help Barisan win," said Dr Mahathir who is Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) chairman.
During the event, Pribumi president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was officially introduced as Johor Pakatan chairman, who would lead the pact into GE14 and "Luaskan Harapan" was announced as its slogan.
