Cops bust illegal gambling den in Kajang, 33 people nabbed

KAJANG: Police have busted an illegal gambling den that started operations just a month ago.
With its metal shutters down, the premises looked unoccupied, but unknown to the public, a small entrance hidden behind a fridge served as access into the den.
During the surprise raid along Jalan Taman Putra Kajang on Tuesday night, customers were caught off-guard as both the police and members of the media stormed into the premises.
Shouts for identification papers rang throughout the small shop.
Customers, who were forced to surrender their ICs, stood in silence as they awaited police trucks to take them to the police headquarters for further processing.
Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Dzaffir Yusoff said that 11 foreigners were among the 33 people who were arrested during the raid.
"The premises uses CCTV to check the identity of customers before letting them in. Only members are allowed in," he said.
He added that 42 gambling machines were also seized during the operation.
