US Embassy wishes Malaysians Happy National Day through video

PETALING JAYA: As Malaysians unite to celebrate National Day, the United States Embassy has released a video clip in conjunction with Malaysia's 60th anniversary and also to mark 60 years of bilateral relations between both nations.
The video was released at 8.30pm Wednesday and features US Ambassador to Malaysia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir, along with Malaysian members of the embassy.
“On behalf of the people of the United States, it gives me tremendous pleasure to congratulate the people of Malaysia on 60 years of independence.
“We are proud to have embraced an independent Malaysia since its inception in 1957. But even prior to that, our countries shared an enduring partnership,” said Lakhdhir in the video.
She remarked that trade relations between both countries spanned several centuries, and that today, those ties were as strong as ever and continued to deepen and expand.
“We work closely on trade, security, environmental conservation and health, and educational and cultural cooperation.
“We look forward to continuing our important work together as partners and friends for global, regional and bilateral peace and security.
Selamat Menyambut Hari Kebangsaan (Happy National Day celebrations) to all our Malaysian friends,” she said.
The 80-second video captures the diversity of Malaysian culture through a colourful cast of the embassy members dressed in traditional attire.
It was shot in three significant locations -  Melaka’s Declaration of Independence as well as the National Monument (Tugu Negara) and Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur.
The video is available at the embassy’s social media accounts on Twitter and YouTube.
It will also be made available on their other accounts on Facebook and Instagram later.
