The police inspector and the loan shark

KOTA KINABALU: A police inspector was arrested after he was caught receiving money so that no action would be taken against a loan shark in Lahad Datu.
State Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) director Datuk Sazali Salbi said the 34-year-old inspector was arrested after he received RM2,000 from the loan shark on Aug 21.
He said the inspector had on Aug 16, received RM18,000 from the loan shark who was also being investigated for his illegal operations.
Three others – a 29-year-old sergeant, lance corporal, 34, and corporal, 29 – are believed to have received part of the RM18,000.
The inspector was remanded for seven days from Tuesday while the others would be remanded later Wednesday.
