Spore's budget carrier Scoot to fly six destinations in Msia

KUALA LUMPUR: Scoot Tigerair Pte Ltd (Scoot) the newly merged low-cost, medium-to-long haul arm of Singapore Airlines Group, is pushing on with its aggressive expansion plan.
The low-cost carrier, which just last month completed its merger with Tigerair Singapore, also unveiled its new tagline; "Escape the Ordinary."
Its chief executive officer, Lee Lik Hsin said this tagline is not just a marketing ploy, but the mantra of the airline going forward as they will be everything but ordinary.
"We have a new mantra going forward and it is Value, Choice, Innovation and Experience and all these means that we intend to run the business in ways that are beyond the ordinary," he said at a briefing today.
When asked, Lee didn't want to disclose the exact amount of cost savings for its parent company, Budget Aviation Holdings (BAH), which up until 25th July 2017 were operating both Scoot and Tigerair as two respective low-cost carriers.
"I do have to stress that the cost saving is significant and as a new entity, we do have an enlarged capital expenditure (capex) to push forward of doubling our fleet within five years to 2020," said Lee.
Scoot currently has 14 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 23 Airbus A320s in its fleet.
"We have ordered six more Boeing 787 Dreamliners, two of which will be delivered this year. We are expecting four more by end of 2019," said Lee.
"We have also ordered 39 Airbus A320s, which will be delivered to us starting next year all the way to 2025. Upon completion of all the new deliveries, we will have a fleet of 82 planes."
Scoot also officially kickstarts tickets sales for its latest Malaysian destinations; Kuching and Kuantan.
These latest additions will bring the total number of Scoot's destinations in Malaysia to six cities including Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and Penang.
The inaugural flights are scheduled to commence on 29th October 2017 for Kuching and 2nd February 2018 for Kuantan.
As such, the carrier is also offering attractive one-way fares from Kuching and Kuantan, which start at as low as RM89, one way.
Customers must enter the "MYSCOOT" promotion code to get RM15 discount in selected FLYBAG and FLYBAGEAT fares, which starts now and runs till 11.59pm on 14th August 2017.
