Several areas in Pahang earmarked for Malaysia - US joint military exercise

TEMERLOH: Several locations here will be focal areas for a joint military exercise between the Malaysian Army and the United States Army Pacific Command (USAPC) from Aug 7 to 18.
In a statement issued tonight by the 4th Brigade (Mechanised) from Batu 10 Camp, Kuantan, the Keris Strike Series 21/2017 Exercise would involve the Batu 5 Camp and the general forest area of Kemasul, Mentakab.
The formations and teams involved are from the Malaysian Army's 3rd Infantry Division and 4th Brigade (Mechanised), the 21st Special Service Group, the Army's Aviation 881st Squadron, and the 165th Military Intelligence Battalion.
The military exercise will involve the Command Post Exercise, Field Training Exercise, and Subject Matter Exchange.
The training will focus on Humanitarian Assistance Disaster Relief (HADR), Medical First Responder (MFR), Motorised Infantry and Counter-Insurgency Warfare (CIW), Aviation, Unmaned Aerial System (UAS), Counter Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) and Special Operations Forces (SOF).
The military exercise aims to increase knowledge and experience of participants from the Malaysian army and USAPC especially in disaster relief management and humanitarian assistance.
It also seeks to strengthen military cooperation between both countries, among others.
Residents of the areas involved are urged not to panic and to refrain from taking photographs of the military exercise while it is being carried out.
