KUALA LUMPUR: A series of arrests resulted in cops crippling an amphetamine drug ring here.
From an initial arrest of two men on Aug 25, police went on to arrest a total of seven men and women in their 20s.
In a statement Tuesday, City Narcotic Crime Investigation Department deputy chief Supt Mohd Faisal Yahya said the two men were arrested in a special operation in Jalan Kepong.
"We found 47 ecstasy pills on one of them and we were later led to a house in Jalan Puncak Desa 2," he said.
There, they arrested a man and woman who led them to a nearby house nearby where they found 55 packets of methamphetamine.
"One of the two men that we arrested earlier also led us to a condominium unit where a 29-year-old Vietnamese woman was arrested," he said.
After raiding the unit, police retrieved an assortment of amphetamine-type drugs including 4,400 erimin pills, 300 ecstasy pills and three packets of ketamine.
Police used information gathered from their first batch of arrests to nab four more individuals including another Vietnamese woman.
They also found more drugs including 4,400 erimin pills and 289 ecstasy pills.
Investigations also found that all the suspects were part of a ring peddling amphetamine-type stimulants.
