NST editor selected for Chevening Scholarship

KUALA LUMPUR: New Straits Times, news editor, Faridul Anwar Farinordin has been granted the prestigious Chevening Scholarship to pursue a Master’s degree in Migration and Global Development.
He will pursue the degree at University of Sussex, Brighton, England beginning Sept 21.
"Alhamdulillah, I am honored by this opportunity to be part of the Chevening Award recipients, which allows me to pursue an area of study in migration and trans-boundary issues that affects global communities today.
“I would also like to express my gratitude to NST for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” he said.
Faridul had previously won the Malaysian Press Institute Awards in 2002, 2004 and 2007.
He was also a recipient of NST Scholarship award during his undergraduate studies at the International Islamic University Malaysia from 1991 to 1995.
A pre-departure briefing and reception for Chevening Scholars will be held on Aug 24 at the British High Commissioners’ Residence.
At the event, the scholars will be given an informative briefing and a certificate presentation ceremony as well as the opportunity to get to know each other and connect with Chevening Alumni of Malaysia members.
British High Commissioner Vicki Treadell is expected to be at the event.
The UK government has been providing Chevening Scholarships as an international awards scheme aimed at developing global leaders since 1983.
