Nazri: Investigate the assets of Dr Mahathir and his family

PADANG RENGAS: An Umno supreme council member wants the the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate the assets of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his family.
Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz (pic) said if Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was willing to be investigated, then the complainant must also be investigated.
"The Deputy Prime Minister got his wealth when he gave up his position as a political secretary, and concentrated on his business.
"But even then, his wealth did not reach RM230mil. If others can become rich in carrying out businesses, what is wrong if he did so," Nazri told reporters after opening the Padang Rengas Umno division delegates meeting here.
Nazri, who is Tourism and Culture Minister, was commenting on Dr Ahmad Zahid's statement that he was opened to investigations by the MACC over the former premier's allegations that he had RM230mil when he was in Umno Youth.
However, Dr Ahmad Zahid said the MACC should also investigate the assets of the "individual" and his family.
Although Dr Ahmad Zahid, did not mention the name of the "individual", Dr Mahathir had recently raise the assets issue.
Nazri said Dr Mahathir had yet to answer his question on how much funds were collected during the five general elections held during his tenure.
"Dr Mahathir got the funds from whom and how much were the funds. How much were used, and what was the balance.
"I feel the anti-graft agency must investigate him. Until today, he has not answered these questions, while Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has answered similar questions thrown at him," he added.
