Nancy Shukri: Isa Samad still SPAD acting chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Isa Samad will discharge his duties as acting Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) chairman after his case involving corruption is over, said Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department said according to SPAD's standard operating procedure, Isa is still the acting chairman until his case is disposed of or otherwise.
Isa is being investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission over the purchase of two hotels while he was Felda chairman.
"The situation now is status quo and SPAD has all the mechanisms to handle the situation should Tan Sri Isa be removed for any reason as we have the interim replacement for him," Nancy told reporters after presenting a RM5,000 government grant each to 88 taxi drivers here on Monday.
On the Taxi Industry Transformation Programme, Nancy said taxi drivers will no longer be tied to the hire purchase system implemented by taxi companies.
She also said the new ride-hailing conditions passed by Parliament were designed to level the playing field for all parties.
"Now Uber, GrabCar and taxi drivers operate under the same conditions," she said.
