Musician's son detained over cheating case

PETALING JAYA: An investment company CEO, who is the son of a popular musician, has been remanded by the police over a cheating case.
According to Bukit Aman city commercial crime investigation department, the 33-year-old man was detained after a total of 89 police reports were made against the investment company.
"Eight investigation papers have been opened," it said in a statement Friday.
The man was detained on Aug 23 in Jalan Tun Razak at about 5.15pm, and that the suspect was expected to be granted bail.
The company promised returns as high as 20 to 30% monthly and is believed to have been active since 2015.
Around 3,000 victims are believed to have been affected by the alleged scam. Losses were estimated to be about RM1mil.
"The police are also tracking more individuals connected to the case," said the statement.
