MCA praises William Leong's decision to quit PKR political bureau

PETALING JAYA: MCA has lauded PKR's Selayang MP William Leong for quitting the party's political bureau over efforts to court PAS ahead of the general election.
"PKR Selayang MP William Leong must be lauded for quitting his party's political bureau in view of overtures displayed by PKR towards PAS," said MCA religious harmony bureau chairman Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker (pic) in a statement Friday.
"Up to last week, PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was still in seat talks with PAS, in the hope that PAS will not contest in three-cornered fights," he said.
However, Ti noted that PAS had in turn given PKR the "proverbial slap" when it announced that it would go ahead and contest in 42 state seats in Selangor.
In view of this new move by PAS, Ti said DAP should resign from the Selangor government and Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali should sack the PAS executive councillors from the state government.
"Is DAP so desperate for government positions that they have to kowtow.
"How could Azmin Ali not respect the wishes of the majority of voters in Selangor who do not want PAS?" Ti said.
Ti said PKR and DAP should instead be standing up against PAS, particularly in regards to the Selangor government.
