Man changes guilty plea to claim trial for molesting and sodomising his two stepsons

JOHOR BARU: A man who had earlier admitted to molesting and sodomising his two stepsons, changed his plea here yesterday.
The 24-year-old man claimed trial to five charges of committing sodomy and molest on his two stepsons aged 7 and 11 at the Sessions court.
Sessions court judge Kamarudin Kamsun fixed September 5 for the case to be mentioned and set bail at RM50,000 with one surety for all the charges.
Kamarudin also forbade the accused, a caretaker at a prawn farm in Mersing, from having any contact with his wife and his children.
"The accused has to report himself to the nearest police station on the second day of every month," Kamarudin said.
The offences were allegedly committed on different dates and places between last April and July this year.
He was charged with two counts of committing the offence under Section 377C of the Penal Code for carnal intercourse against the order of nature, without consent.
He also faces another three under Section 377CA of the same law for having sexual connection with another person by introducing an object.
The accused faces a maximum of 20 year jail term for each offence including whipping.
The accused earlier pleaded guilty to all five charges before Sessions court judge Mohammad Khalid Ab. Karim on July 24 but no sentence was meted out as the court wanted the case to be heard in a Child Court.
Deputy public prosecutor Suhaila Shefiuddin asked the court not to offer bail out of fear that the accused may harrass his stepsons.
His counsel Mohd Fadzli Mohd Ramly said the children are currently under the care of the Johor Baru Welfare Department.
Present in court were his mother, younger sister and his wife who is still under confinement.
It was learnt that his wife had given birth to a baby, the accused's child, a week ago.
