MACC spends 7 hours collecting documents at FIC's office

KUALA LUMPUR: A team of four Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers spent about seven hours in the Felda Investment Corporation (FIC) office at Menara Felda, here, in the latest series of probe into the 2014 acquisition of a four-star hotel in Kuching, Sarawak.
The anti-graft team were seen entering Menara Felda at about 10.17am and only left the building at about 5pm.
They were spotted carrying three bags, believed to contain documents related to the purchase, when they walked out of the building into an awaiting Proton Waja. The team was believed to be heading back to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.
The officers refused to comment when met by reporters who were waiting for them at the lobby.
Last Friday, MACC chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad ordered an investigation into the purchases of the hotels.
Source had revealed that FIC had purchased Merdeka Palace Hotel & Suites in Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg at a hefty RM160 million when the actual price was around RM110 million.
It was learnt that investigators were looking at the possibility that there were individuals who siphoned the differences.
Five individuals have been detained so far to facilitate investigations.
