MACC probe into Sg Lembu illegal factory continues

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Investigations into the illegal carbon filter-processing factory in Sungai Lembu (pic) continue as Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers question the village committee chairman and a few business owners there.
Three plainclothes MACC officers arrived at Kampung Sungai Lembu in two cars at 11.40am on Friday.
They questioned Sungai Lembu JKKK chairman Tan Sing Lee and a few businessmen staying and operating their businesses near the illegal factory.
They will have to present themselves at the MACC office in Butterworth later for their official statements to be recorded.
The three MACC officers left after spending an hour in Kampung Sungai Lembu.
Penang state executive councillor Phee Boon Poh, factory owner Edmond Gan Eu Lee and his father Gan Buck Hee were arrested by the MACC after it began a probe into the factory last Friday.
All three walked free on Monday after their remand orders were set aside by the High Court.
MACC intends to appeal the decision.
