Johnathan defeats Olympic champ en route to gold

SUBANG: National sharpshooter Johnathan Wong Guan Jie clinched the gold medal in the Men's 10m Air pistol event at the National Shooting Range, here Saturday.
Johnathan kept his cool as he overcame Rio Olympics gold medallist Hoang Xuan Vinh of Vietnam for the gold medal with a score of 238.3.
Meanwhile, the bronze medal went to Myanmar's Kyaw Swar Win.
It was sweet revenge for him after he lost out to Xuan Vinh in Rio last year.
This is Johnathan's first SEA Games medal.
Johnathan clinched a silver in 10m air pistol and bronze in 50m pistol in the Singapore Game two years ago.
In the 10m air pistol final, Johnathan pipped Xuan Vinh to second placing.
That wasn’t the only time that Johnathan got the better of Xuan Vinh, who is also a two-time World Cup winner.
In May, Johnathan triumphed against the 42-year-old in the 50m pistol at the 41st South-East Asia (SEASA) Shooting Championships in Subang. The Malaysian also won the 10m and 50m team titles.
