Illegal immigrants held for trafficking drugs worth RM150,000

BATU PAHAT: Ten illegal immigrants from Indonesia have been detained by the police for trafficking syabu worth RM150,000 at a chalet near the Minyak Beku jetty here.
Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Wahib Musa said the suspects, aged between 35 to 45, were attempting to distribute 2.2kg of drug to a syndicate in Indonesia.
He said initial investigation revealed that the six men and four women were waiting for a ferry to transport them back to Tanjung Pinang before they were arrested last Sunday at around 4pm.
"The suspects who are from Aceh, Bengkulu, Bengkalis, Medan and Jawa Timur were detained at one of the rooms where police had made the discovery," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
ACP Abdul Wahib said all of them tested negative for drugs and the case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
