Early morning start to #AnakAnakMalaysia walk no deterrent for eager participants

SHAH ALAM: Having to wake up early on a Sunday morning did not wipe the smiles off the faces of #AnakAnakMalaysia participants.
Despite the rain, families with little children still turned up and walked the 5km route that began at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam.
Among the thousands who turned up for the walk were renowned shoe designer Datuk Jimmy Choo, Malaysian designers Keith Kee and Christy Ng.
Choo, who woke up at 5am, joined the walk with his personal assistant and nephew.
With shades and a pair of comfortable shoes, he walked alongside more than 6,000 participants.
Choo said although he is usually in London, he makes it a point to come back to celebrate National Day.
For Kee, it was his first time participating in a walk of any sort.
"It was a fun walk and although it was raining before the walk began, I made up my mind that I would attend no matter what," he said.
Kee was happy to see different races coming together for the meaningful event.
Ng said that one of the interesting things seen during the walk was a participant who came with a bicycle and dressed with an overturned basket on his head topped with a real durian and two mini Jalur Gemilang as well as a bow tie made of durian skin.
Ng and Kee stopped to take pictures with the man.
The #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk is organised by Star Media Group Bhd in collaboration with Eco World Development Group Bhd.
