Derailed cargo train causes delays, route cancellations

PETALING JAYA: A cargo train was derailed on the Kuala Lumpur-Simpang Batu line early Monday morning resulting in delays and cancelled routes.
"The KTM Komuter train service in both directions will see a 20 to 30 minute delay due to the derailment," Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTM) said on its Facebook page.
"We apologise for the inconvenience caused," it added.
On Twitter, KTM announced that the Kepong Sentral to Kuala Lumpur train service was cancelled while trains departing from Tanjung Malim will end their journeys at Sungai Buloh.
Passengers were advised to take the MRT to their respective destinations.
It is learnt that the cargo train, which was carrying cement from Simpang Batu, skidded near Kepong at about 1am.
Repair work is currently in progress.
On Sunday, a KTM cargo train was also derailed on the tracks between the Kuala Lumpur and Bank Negara stations.
