Bullies' fate in the hand of the Deputy Public Prosecutor

KUALA TERENGGANU: Police are waiting for further instruction from the deputy public prosecutor on the next course of action against 26 students who bullied three students of a vocational school in Kuala Nerus last week.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Idris Abd Rafar said all the suspects aged between 16 and 17, have been released on police bail pending further instruction after their remand order ended yesterday.
“We have completed the investigation under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting and the papers have been handed to the DPP for further instructions," he said today.
Last Thursday, two groups of students were remanded by police for bullying.
The first group of 15 students were detained for bullying two students and the second group of 11 students were detained later for bullying a third victim in the same vocational school.
Idris said all the suspects were surrendered by their parents at the Kuala Terengganu police station on Wednesday.
He said the group of 11 seniors was alleged to have assaulted Muhammad Luqman Hakim Mohd Shukri, 16, at the college's surau about 9.30pm on Monday.
“Three hours later at 1.30am on Tuesday, Ahmad Zikrill A’zim Hasbullah, bowler, was assaulted by 15 seniors,” he said adding that the victim's close friend Wan Ahmad Faris Wan Zakaria, who intervened when he heard Zikrill’s screams, was also assaulted by the same bullies.
He said Zikrill, a state junior bowler, was critically wounded in the attack and it was learnt that Zikrill’s seniors had bound him and the other victim with blankets before repeatedly beating the duo.
He added that Zikrill, a first semester student studying electronics technology, was said to have fainted twice after being heavily bruised all over the body from the beatings.
Idris said Zikrill’s parents lodged a report at the district police headquarters at about 3.30pm the same day while Luqman's mother lodged a report at 10.30pm the same day.
