Boy, 16, stabbed to death by relative during quarrel in Sitiawan

IPOH: An argument led to the death of a 16-year-old boy when he was stabbed in the abdomen by a mentally-unstable relative at a house in Simpang Lima, Sitiawan, yesterday.
In the 7pm incident, How Chu Huat who was the youngest of eight siblings, and his relative were in the living room of the house when an argument broke out.
How's sister, who refused to be named, said she had earlier seen her relative holding two knives as she returned home from work.
"My brother was talking to our relative as I went to the bathroom. Soon after, I heard a commotion as the two quarrelled over some issue.
“My mother screamed and called for me. I rushed out and saw How bleeding from his abdomen. I called the ambulance but he succumbed to the injuries.
"I learned that my mother and How had earlier tried to persuade the attacker to put down the knives.
There was a struggle and in a heat of moment, he stabbed How," she said when met at the Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun's Forensic Department here today.
She said the victim who studied at SMJK Nan Hwa, was a bright student and her family had high hopes for him.
"The attacker used to work at a jewellery store but had to quit due to his mental health. He is now heavily dependent on medication.
"He has refused to take his medicine. So a nurse from the hospital had to visit him monthly to administer the medication," she said.
Manjung police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Hanif Othman said the victim died at the scene and the attacker was detained soon afterwards.
The case is investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
