A couple that buys syabu together, gets busted together

KOTA KINABALU: A couple, believed to be attempting to buy syabu, was arrested with their suspected pusher who was carrying about 251g of the synthetic drug.
City police chief Asst Comm M Chandra said the 28-year-old man and his 30-year-old girlfriend, as well as the 23-year-old suspected pusher, have been detained under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act that carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
He said police spotted a car, with the couple inside, in the Sembulan area here at about 12.15am on Monday.
A few minutes later, a man approached the car on a motorcycle, said ACP Chandra.
The three suspects tried to flee when they saw they were surrounded by police.
ACP Chandra said a check on the 23-year-old man showed he was carrying a bag containing five packets of a crystal-like substance believed to be syabu.
He said while the couple did not have any illegal substance on them, they however tested positive for drugs.
Police seized the drugs, the car and the motorcycle, all with a total value of RM25,000.
