State leaders attend funeral of mother and daughter killed in Kuala Abang car crash

KUALA TERENGGANU: Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman and state speaker Datuk Mohd Zuber Embong were among those who attended the funeral of a mother and daughter who passed away in an accident near Kuala Abang, Dungun, yesterday.
Both leaders joined the family, relatives and friends to perform the funeral prayers.
Nurbani Fartini Ahmad Farnizar, 25, and her seven months old daughter Nur Fauzana Mohd Nazrin, were killed in a 1.40pm incident at Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan.
Both mother and child were buried at the Kampung Gong Penaga Muslim Cemetary at 11.30 pm.
Yesterday, the duo was involved in an accident when the car they were travelling in slammed into a divider and an electric post near Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Kuala Abang, Dungun.
Fartini suffered serious head and body injuries and died instantly at the site of the crash while her daughter succumbed to her injuries at the Dungun Hospital soon after the incident.
District police chief Superintendent Ahmad Zailani Yaacub said both victims were in the front passenger seat of a Honda Accord driven by Fartini’s husband Mohd Nazrin Nizam, 25.
It was learnt that the couple and their daughter were on their way towards Dungun from Kuala Terengganu, when Nazrin, lost control of the vehicle and crashed the car.
The impact resulted in the car turning turtle and the mother and child were flung out of the car, several metres away but Nazrin from Pulau Serai, Dungun, escaped with light injuries.
